Height: 890 metres/2920 feet

"If Catstycam stood alone, remote from its fellows, it would be one of the finest peaks in Lakeland."
A.W Wainwright

The near perfect conical shape of Catstycam, at the foot of the Swirral Edge ridge descending east from Helvellyn dominates the view from the valleys above Glenridding, the higher summit of Helvellyn is hidden from sight behind.

The descent from Helvellyn over Swirral Edge brings you within touching distance of the summit of Catstycam, but many do not bother to make the small effort to climb to the summit, those who do are rewarded with a stunning view over Ullswater and across Red Tarn to Striding Edge.
