"As seen on the approach from Bassenthwaite this slender pyramid is one of the simplest yet finest mountain forms in Lakeland."

The ridge descending from the west of Skiddaw crosses Carl Side and Long Side before terminating in Ullock Pike, a fine conical summit at the end of the slender ridge, from here the ridge tapers down towards Bassenthwaite.
