Allen Crags

Grid Reference: NY 23668 08529
Height: 785 metres/2575 feet

"Grandly positioned overlooking Esk Hause; it is really in the heart of things and on intimate terms with Bowfell, The Scafells and Great Gable - old favourites."
A Wainwright

The Allen Crags, sitting above Esk Hause, just a stones throw from one of the most walked footpaths in the Lake District, is far less frequented than it deserves. The rocky summit is a fine viewpoint with dramatic views to Great End and Great Gable to the west, and to the north a fine view over Borrowdale to Skiddaw with the Solway Firth visible beyond on a good day.

North of the Allen Crags the ridge continues to the fine summit of Glaramara before descending towards Borrowdale beyond.
