Glaramara, at the head of the Borrowdale Valley is an imposing view from the northern end of the valley, The great scoop of The Comb shows off the imposing crags below Glaramara such as Raven Crag making the summit of Glaramara look more of a challenge than it really is.

Two good ridges climb either side of The Comb, to the west is the Thorneythwaite Fell ridge where a good path climbs directly to the summit of Glaramara, the western ridge climbs over the summit of Bessyboot and Rosthwaite Fell to the summit, a much less frequented route, with beautiful scenery throughout.

Just to the north of the summit of Glaramara is the subsidiary summit of Comb Head, a small rocky summit overlooking the comb and with spectacular views north over The Comb and Borrowdale.

To the south of Glaramara the ridge continues, a wonderful path scattered with scenic tarns climbing to the summit of The Allen Crags.
