"Great Gable is a favourite of all fellwalkers, and first favourite with many."
A Wainwright

One of the jewels of the Lake District Great Gable is a wonderful mountain, although not the tallest, being just 899m, it can rival most of the higher fells for grandeur and spectacular views.

There are plenty of great routes up Great Gable, from Borrowdale, Wasdale, Ennerdale or Buttermere each with their own charm.

The views from the summit are spectacular, but just a short walk from the summit is the Westmorland Cairn where the view over Wasdale and Wast Water are exceptional.
