"The vertical face of the crag, now recieving the attention of expert rock-climbers, is a truly formidable object, standing out starkly from a dense surround of plantations."
A Wainwright

Wonderful views over Thirlmere are the reward for anyone who makes the short steep climb to the summit of Raven Crag.

The ascent from near the Thirlmere Dam is steep and has very few views through the trees until the summit is reached, the summit is perhaps best used as a descent from the higher ridge over High Seat, although the descent from High Seat is often very wet underfoot.
