Possibly the most central of the Lakeland Fells (High Raise and Armboth Fell both could argue to be the 'central' fell of the Lake District) Ullscarf has suitably spectacular views over most of the Lake District.

The lower slope on the eastern and western flanks of the ridge are wild and rocky before rising to the gentle grassy summit. Particularly good routes include the north western ridge over Coldbarrow Fell and the eastern shoulder above Wythburn and Nab Crags.
