Height: | 379 metres/1243 feet |
"Walla Crag, an eminence of intermingled rocks and trees overlooking the east shore of lovely Derwentwater: of moderate elevation yet steep, romantic, challenging." |
A Wainwright
|
A spectacular little fell high above Derwentwater with stunning views across the lake as well as down to Keswick below. Walla Crag can either be a short excursion from Keswick or a longer walk continuing over the ridge above to Bleaberry Fell and beyond.
The climb from Great Wood alongside Cat Gill is a wonderful ascent, although steep, the views over Derwentwater through the trees are magnificent, this can be combined with a walk out from Keswick along the shores of Derwentwater, passing by Friars Crag, one of the most famous views in the Lake District, looking over Derwentwater to Catbells.
