"This is a scene of strong contrasts, interesting and pleasing."
A.W Wainwright

The high ridge to the east of Fairfield descends along the fine Saint Sundays ridge, dropping down to the grassy summit ridge of Birks, a gentle grassy summit belies the steep crags out of sight below the summit ridge.

Fine views over Grisedale to the north and over Ullswater make this a pleasant route to and from Saint Sundays Crag.
