Height: 537 metres/1762 feet

"The highlight of the view is Blencathra undoubtedly, the noble proportions of this fine mountain being seen to great advantage."
A.W Wainwright

Great Mell Fell is a prominent sight from the main road between Keswick and Penrith, although such a well know fell fewer fellwalkers venture to the summit than may be expected.

The steep slopes when seen from from A66 to the north may put many off Great Mell Fell but he more gentle wooded southern slopes are delightful and those who venture to the summit are rewarded with some of the best views over Blencathra to the north west.
