"Skiers and sheep share a high regard for White Side."
A.W Wainwright

To the north of Helvellyn the ridge descends over Helvellyn Little Man, crossing the col above Brown Cove before climbing again, over a gentle slope to the summit of White Side, a gentle summit on most sides, but dropping steeply to the east into Keppel Cove.

During the summer months White Side is rarely seen as the days destination, merely a route to and from the more popular summit of Helvellyn to the south. During the winter however White Side can come alive, with skiers on it's gentle slopes and winter climbing in Keppel Cove and nearby on Brown Cove and Brown Cove Crags (strictly Brown Cove and Brown Cove Crags are not on White Side, but the summit of White Side provides a wonderful viewpoint over these crags.
