"has much merit as a viewpoint and scantier virtue as a grouse sanctuary."
A.Wainwright

Sallows lies just to the south of the Garburn Pass, between the valleys of Kentmere and Troutbeck. Few walkers venture south of the Garburn Pass, most favouring the higher fells to the north but these grassy moorland summits offer much to the walker after a gentle stroll on gentle slopes but with splendid views throughout.

The southerly view from Sallows and the neighbouring Sour Howes over Windermere is spectacular.
