"The Nab is, in character, akin too the three Dodds around Kirkstonefoot. Very steep sided, soaring in symmmmetrical lines to a slender cone."
A.Wainwright

The Nab is the northern shoulder of Rest Dodd that descends towards Martindale, bisecting the valleys of Bannerdale and Rampsgill. After sa slight depression the ridge rises to a grassy summit, The Nab, before plunging down to the valley at Dale Head.

For many years the grassy land here has been protected, The Martindale Deer Forest, once for the means of stalking, but now to protect the deer. Deer can still be seen here regularly grazing the quiet slopes.
