"The ridge of Causey Pike is accompanied by a lower and parallel ridge like an inner balcony."
A Wainwright

North of the Scar Crags and Causey Pike a parallel ridge descends towards Braithwaite, from Sail Pass this ridge descends over Outerside and Stile End before terminating at Barrow, where grassy slopes descend towards Braithwaite.

The summit of Outerside offers some wonderful views over the Coledale Valley and up towards Causey Pike and Sail.

Outerside and Barrow both make good objectives for a short walk from either Braithwaite or Stoneycroft in the Newlands Valley.
