Scar Crags

Grid Reference: NY 20853 20661
Height: 672 metres/2205 feet

"Scar Crags is the big brother of Causey Pike."
A Wainwright

West of Causey Pike the ridge climbs gently to a narrow summit, Scar Crags, gentle grassy slopes to the north, but to the south steep crags descend towards Rigg Beck, an impressive scene.

West of Scar Crags the ridge continues, descending first to cross Sail Pass before climbing to the summits of Sail and Crag Hill, a fine ridge walk.

Scar Crags are often climbed as part of the Coledale Horseshoe from Braithwaite, but other good routes exist, especially a circuit around Stonycroft Gill, including Barrow, Outerside, Scar Crags and Causey Pike.
