Black Fell, nestled above Tarn Hows makes a wonderful short excursion with stunning views throughout. Recent tree clearances of the fellside below the summit have opened up the views with stunning aspects over Coniston and Windermere.

A good low level route can be made by combining Black Fell with Holme Fell to the west.
