Grey Friar

Grid Reference: NY 26009 00359
Height: 770 metres/2526 feet

"The scene westwards to the Scafells being magnificent."
A Wainwright

Grey Friar, a satellite of the Coniston Massif, and the least frequented of the Coniston Fells, but only a short walk way from the ever popular summit of Swirl How.

Well worth the short excursion from either Swirl How or Great Carrs, Grey Friar also offers an interesting approach from the Duddon Valley, where old mining tracks can be found by Seathwaite Tarn climbing either by the south western shoulder of the fell or by Calf Cove to the summit.
