"being itself of striking appearance, gaunt, steep-sided, a pyramid of tumbled boulders and scree, a desert abandoned to nature."
A Wainwright

A pretty top well off the beaten track, Blake Fell, the highest of the Loweswater Fells, is the culmination of a fine days walking, a circuit of te Loweswater Fells from either Loweswater to the north of Cogra Moss to the west.

The extensive views eastwards form the summit are magnificent stretching as far east as the Helvellyn range.

The ascent from Loweswater is a wonderfl walk, and a circuit of Burnbank Fell, Blake Fell and Gavel Fell combined with the paths either through or above Holme Wood is a wonderful short days walking.

The northeastern spur of Carling Knott, a short detour from the summit gives wonderful views over Loweswater below.
