Caw Fell

Grid Reference: NY 13198 11001
Height: 690 metres/2264 feet

"Caw Fell, like many of us who lack a good shpe and attractive features, objects to having it's picture taken and is not at all co-operative as a subject for illustration."
A Wainwright

The huge mass of Caw Fell rises steeply from Ennerdale over Boat How and Iron Crag to the summit ridge, topped by the 'Ennerdale Fence', before dropping, gently, over grassy moorland down towards the Wasdale Valley.

One of the most remote summits in the Lake District and round trip over Caw Fell is generally at least a 12 mile trip.

The Ennerdale Fence is actually a large wall along the summit ridge, marking the watershed for the Ennerdale Reservoir below.
