"The view is good on all sides, with a skyline of giants too the south. The finest prospect lies northwest, where the Buttermere district, seen over a foreground of rock, is of superlative beauty.."
A Wainwright

Grey Knotts rises high above the summit of Honister Pass lies at the extremity of the northern ridge descending from Great Gable, over Green Gable and Brandreth.

The view from the summit is spectacular, particularly to the west over the Buttermere Valley and as the ridge south towards Brandreth is followed the view expands to include a stunning view down into Ennerdale.

A good circular route can be made using this ridge to climb to the summit of Great Gable and returning along Moses Trod to Honister Pass.
