"A perfectly composed view of mountain and lake scenery, a connoisseur's choice."
A Wainwright

Low Fell, above the Vale of Lorton, although as it's name may suggest is far from the highest of the Lake District fells, it's view must rank amongst one of the best. From the lowly southern summit a wonderful view over Loweswater and Crummock Water to Buttermere with the most famous mountains in the Lake District surrounding the view.

From Thackthwaite a good path climbs to the summit ridge and follows the ridge south, first to the main summit and then a little further to the southern summit, from where the ground drops towards Loweswater.

The summit of Darling Fell, to the west of Low Fell makes a worthwhile detour with stunning views over Loweswater below.
