"A very pleasing scramble through heathery outcrops with magnificent aerial views." |

The wonderful summit ridge of Mellbreak is one of the finest viewpoints over Crummock Water, dropping steeply below with the fine western flank of Grasmoor perfectly positioned opposite.
The imposing northern slopes seen from the Kirkstile Inn at Loweswater seem to offer no easy route to the summit, but upon closer inspection a wonderful path can be found from above the scree slopes below, climbing around the rough crags giving wonderful views as it turns corners revealing new views throughout the climb.
Mellbreak should always be tackled from north to south, thee grassy southern approach makes a dull climb, while a return along the lakeshore is a stunning end to the walk.
