Height: 633 metres/2077 feet

"It's neat rounded summit surveys exciting landscapes but remains shyly aloof."
A Wainwright

To the west of Red Pike the Buttermere Fells ridge continues, a much less trodden route, crossing first the subsidiary summit of Little Dodd before crossing the summit of Starling Dodd and continuing to the summit of Great Borne, the end of the ridge.

To the south the slopes drop down into the Ennerdale Valley, forested on their lower slopes, while to the north Scale Beck descends to Scale Force and Crummock Water.
