Probably the quietest track to the summit of Snowdon, this route climbs the highest mountain in Wales by the Rhyd Dhu path, crossing the Bwelch Main ridge to the summit before returning by the Rangers Path to Rhyd Dhu

From the station car park at Rhyd Dhu we will follow the Rhyd Dhu path up the fellside east. A wonderful route on a well laid path with great views throughout.

Eventually we will climb up onto the Llechog ridge, here the views will start to unfold, with the steep drop north to Cwm Clogwyn below us and views west to the coast, but the ridge ahead over Bwlch Main will probably draw our attention, a wonderful looking crest of rock climbing up towards the summit of Snowdon.

Our route follows the ridge up to the high point at the southern end of Bwelch Main on good paths, zigzagging up the steeper sections until we are on the narrow ridge of Bwelch Main.

A wonderful rocky scramble, not as exposed or long as Crib Goch but equally rewarding, the rocky ridge will bring us up to the final slope up to the summit of Snowdon.

From the summit of Snowdon we will follow the track to the north, crossing the railway line after a short while and then taking the Ranger Path down above Clogwyn Du'r Arddu.

A small path to the left will bring us back towards Rhyd Dhu, passing through the almost architectural quarry workings above Glan-yr-afon as we wind our way back to the start point.

We plan to walk whatever the weather, unless it is dangerous to do so.

Mountain weather can be a little unpredictable, but we do keep an eye on the forecasts leading up to walks, should the forecast mean that the walk is not possible then we will contact you as soon as we have the forecast and offer you the following options:
- A more suitable walk on the same date taking into consideration the weather conditions
- A transfer to the same walk on another date
- A full refund

Yes, dogs are allowed on all our walks.

However we do cross farmland and common land where animals will be grazing, there will be large sections of the walk, if not all, where dogs will be required to be on a lead.

There are sections of this walk across rough ground and boulders and as such this walk may not be suitable for all dogs.
