Which Navigation Course Is Best For Me?

The Lake District Walker offer a wide variety of Navigation Courses throughout the year, so which course is the right one for you?

Beginners Navigation Course
A great one day course for those looking to learn the basic skills of mountain navigation. No prior experience is required for this course.

Advanced Navigation Course
A more in depth look at mountain navigation, for those who have previously taken our Beginners Navigation Course, or have experience in taking bearings, measuring distances and a little knowledge of the basics of contours.

NNAS Courses
We offer the full range of NNAS courses, the Bronze course is a good introduction to navigation, run over two days no previous experience in needed for this course. The NNAS Silver Award is a good standard for those looking to be self sufficient in the hills of the UK, again running over two days, there is no requirement to have taken the Bronze award, although some prior experience would be an advantage.
The NNAS Gold award is aimed at those with good experience of mountain navigation and is a good level for those looking to teach navigation, run as a two day training course and a one day assessment.

Night Navigation
Our night navigation courses are always popular with anyone looking to test their skills in the most difficult conditions possible, prior experience is required for this course, participants should bee able to take accurate bearings, pacings and have a reasonable understanding of contours before taking this course.
