A wonderful days walking on the lesser trodden fells to the south of the Coniston Group, taking in the grassy ridge of Walna Scar before climbing the shapely summit of Caw.
Summits included on this route:
Walna Scar621 metres / 2035 feet
White Maiden608 metres / 2006 feet
White Pike598 metres / 1973 feet
Caw529 metres / 1745 feet
From Torver we join the Walna Scar road that leads north towards the Old Man of Coniston, quickly opening up views of Coniston Water behind us. From the high point of the road we turn onto the rounded ridge leading to the summit of White Maiden.
From here we descend to the next col and wind our way round the crags forming the slopes of Caw, making our way to the summit with more fantastic views south over the bay and East over Grizedale Forest.
From Caw we descend south, walking through the woodland under The Knott before rejoining the road and making our way back to Torver.
Each participant will be required to bring suitable equipment for their chosen event, please see Kit List tab above.
