A perfect evening's walk, the delightful Low Fell above Crummock Water and Loweswater has an astonishing view from the summit for a fell of such low altitude.

Crummock Water is perfectly framed with the high mountains surrounding Buttermere on all sides and the nearer Grasmoor fells are a stunning view across the valley.

Summits included on this route:

Fellbarrow	416 metres/1365 feet
Low Fell	423 metres/1388 feet

From Thackthwaite we will follow the path up across the fields to the intake wall above and the drove road above, a short climb from the drove road will bring us onto the grassy ridge leading to the summit of Fellbarrow one of the best viewpoints over the Solway Coast.

We will follow the ridge south until the track is rejoined, this crosses the undulating summit ridge to the true summit of Low Fell, a little further along the ridge we will come to the southern summit, a far better viewpoint and proof that not all the best views of the Lake District are from the higher summits!

A short descent over heather and grass will bring us down to the intake wall and the path above the wall will bring us back to the Thackthwaite path.

Location Info	From Keswick: Leave Keswick on the A66 turning off at Braithwaite, following the signposts for Whinlatter through the village. Follow this road over Whinlatter Pass and descend to Lorton, when the B5289 is reached cross straight over and just after the bridge take the first left following this lane to Thackthwaite. Parking is limited in the village, there is some parking on the roadside just before the village and again just beyond the last houses. From Cockermouth: Leave Cockermouth on the Lorton Road, leaving town opposite Sainsburys. Follow this road through the village of Low Lorton turning right at the crossroads at the far end of the village. After the bridge take the first left following this lane to Thackthwaite. Parking is limited in the village, there is some parking on the roadside just before the village and again just beyond the last houses.
