“Latrigg is to Keswick what Loughrigg is to Ambleside and Helm Crag to Grasmere: a small hill, an excellent viewpoint, a great favourite of local folk and visitors”
A Wainwright
Latrigg, the lowest of the Northern Fells of the Lake District despite it lack of height has much to offer the walker, scenic woodlands, wonderful views over Keswick, Derwentwater, Borrowdale and Bassenthwaite, the deep gorge of the River Greta and good views of the higher fells of the Lake District.
Why not take a pleasant stroll with us as we climb Latrigg from Keswick through Brundholme Woods.
“For the man who wants to get away from it all”
A Wainwright
From Keswick we will follow Spooney Green Lane to the foot of Brundholme Wood, a good terraced path climbs very gently through the trees to the east, with magnificent views over the River Greta and south.
After emerging onto the fields above the trees we will walk across gentle grassland to the summit plateau of Latrigg, a wonderful viewpoint of Keswick and the surrounding area.
A short descent from the summit of Latrigg to the west will bring us down onto the track descending back to Spooney Green Lane and Keswick.
Each participant will be required to bring suitable equipment for their chosen event, please see Kit List tab above.
