- High Street from Patterdale
The huge grassy ridge of High Street is the highest point of the Far Eastern Fells and the grassy slopes give some great ridge walking.
Along the High Street ridge runs a Roman Road, the road between Brougham Fort at Penrith and the fort at Ambleside.
Let our experienced guides take you from Patterdale on a circuit of these fells with their stunning scenery where we often see Red Deer in the valleys.
Summits included on this route:
Angletarn Pikes567 metres / 1860 feet
Brock Crags (Optional)561 metres/1841 feet
The Knott739 metres/2425 feet
Rampsgill Head792 metres / 2598 feet
High Street828 metres / 2717 feet
Thornthwaite Crag784 metres / 2572 feet
Gray Crag699 metres / 2293 feet
From Patterdale we will climb the track to Boredale Hause, the pass between Patterdale and Martindale where a good path will climb up alongside the Angletarn Pikes and Angle Tarn, several great smaller peaks can be climbed from this path including Brock Crags and Rest Dodd. The path climbs by The Knott to reach the old Roman Road along the summit ridge of High Street, we will follow the ridge to the summit of High Street, with wonderful views over Patterdale to the west and Riggindale and Haweswater to the east before continuing to the summit of Thornthwaite Crag.
A good ridge now descends north from Thornthwaite Crag over Gray Crag to the village of Hartsop. From here we will follow the track back along the valley to Patterdale.

Fantastic Day Review by Colin
Overall Experience A fantastic day was had by our party of 4 on a private guided walk. Despite heavy rain, strong winds and deep snow in places at the summit we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and were lucky to see some fantastic views scenery and tarns. Our guide Mark was excellent throughout and kept the groups spirits up especially on the long walk to the summit in at places deep snow. An added bonus on the 8 hour walk was not seeing another single walker. It felt like we had the mountain to ourselves. (Posted on 09/03/2024)

We do not have a set minimum age for this event, however, you know your child best, therefore please bear in mind this is an open event of varying ages, if you are not confident your child can complete this event then hiring a private guide could be a more suitable option.
As this is an open event all under 18's must be accompanied by an adult.

We plan to walk whatever the weather, unless it is dangerous to do so.
Mountain weather can be a little unpredictable, but we do keep an eye on the forecasts leading up to walks, should the forecast mean that the walk is not possible then we will contact you as soon as we have the forecast and offer you the following options:
- A more suitable walk on the same date taking into consideration the weather conditions
- A transfer to the same walk on another date
- A full refund
Question:

Yes, dogs are allowed on all our walks.
However we do cross farmland and common land where animals will be grazing, there will be large sections of the walk, if not all, where dogs will be required to be on a lead.
