- Scafell Pike from Langdale
One of the longer routes to the summit of Scafell Pike, but a more accessible start point for many people. This route has the option of returning over Great End and Rossett Pike.
Summits included on this route:
Scafell Pike978 metres / 3209 feet
Great End (Optional)910 metres / 2986 feet
Rossett Pike (Optional)650 metres / 2133 feet
From the Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel we will follow the track up Mickleden, the wide head end of Great Langdale, surrounded on all sides by the high mountains.
Quickly feeling remote and far from civilisation, we ascend the steep sides of Rossett Gill to the beautiful Angle Tarn and continue to Esk Hause, where we finally have a view of the Scafell massive beyond. From here you can also see right over the park to Helvellyn and Skiddaw in the distance.
Once past Esk Hause we are on the Scafell massive itself and pass by the major peaks of Great End, Ill Crag and Broad Crag before the final ascent to the roof of England, Scafell Pike itself.
Our route then returns the same way back down to Great Langdale, giving us time to admire the mountains we passed earlier in the day. We also have the option of including Rossett Pike on the way back, descending via the Stake Pass rather than Rossett Gill.
Each participant will be required to bring suitable equipment for their chosen event, please see Kit List tab above.

Scafell Pike Review by Janet
Overall Experience Just wanted to let you know what an amazing day I had yesterday with Alex guiding me up this epic fell. I couldn’t have had a better guide. He was wonderfully experienced, totally reassuring and made sure I felt safe. He was also great company. A genuinely special experience. (Posted on 03/05/2018)

Scafell Pike on Good Friday Review by Ashley Young
Overall Experience Three friends and I enjoyed a really great day hiking up from Great Langdale to the summit of Scafell Pike on Good Friday with our guide John. He was calm and knowledgeable, ensuring we felt comfortable with what we doing throughout the day. We would highly recommend him as we definitely would not have reached the summit without his guidance and crampons! (Posted on 04/04/2018)

Scafell Pike Review by Dan
Overall Experience John.
Thanks once again for a great day out.
The weather was a challenge at times and I'm sure my own personal lack of fitness gave Jack a bit to think about.
He was excellent on the day. Like James before, a credit to you to pick such good young mountain leaders.
Very safe. Attentive. Prepared. Great local knowledge. I have enjoyed hiking to Scafell twice in the last 6 weeks, with my daughter and my fiancée TLDW. Successful days thanks to two very good guides and your company.
I would not want to tackle SP without them!
We will be back this year. I spoke to Jack about an idea for a trip with a group of grads from my company.
Will be in touch.
Thanks to you and Lyanda personally from me for looking after us.
Regards.

We do not have a set minimum age for this event, however, you know your child best, therefore please bear in mind this is an open event of varying ages, if you are not confident your child can complete this event then hiring a private guide could be a more suitable option.
As this is an open event all under 18's must be accompanied by an adult.
Question:
What happens if the weather is bad?

We plan to walk whatever the weather, unless it is dangerous to do so.
Mountain weather can be a little unpredictable, but we do keep an eye on the forecasts leading up to walks, should the forecast mean that the walk is not possible then we will contact you as soon as we have the forecast and offer you the following options:
- A more suitable walk on the same date taking into consideration the weather conditions
- A transfer to the same walk on another date
- A full refund
Question:
Are dogs allowed on this walk?
Answers:

Posted by John Scadding on Monday, 18 September 2017
Yes, dogs are allowed on all our walks.
However we do cross farmland and common land where animals will be grazing, there will be large sections of the walk, if not all, where dogs will be required to be on a lead.
There are sections of this walk across rough ground and boulders and as such this walk may not be suitable for all dogs.
