- Scafell Pike from Seathwaite
Scafell Pike, the highest peak in England and by far our most popular route.
We probably climb Scafell Pike more than almost anyone else (John climbed it 96 times in 2009 and more in 2010) so why not take advantage of this experience and let us take you up the pick of the routes.
Scafell Pike and Scafell are also popular as training for the 3 Peaks Challenge and romantic proposals!
Summits included on this route:
Lingmell (Optional)800 metres / 2625 feet
Scafell Pike978 metres / 3209 feet
Great End (Optional)910 metres / 2986 feet
By far our most popular route we will take in the highest peak in England along with some of the most spectacular scenery in the Lake District.
From Seathwaite we will climb above Taylorgill Force to Styhead Tarn and Styhead Pass where we will meet the beginning of the Corridor Route which we will follow to Lingmell Col, here we have the option to take in the additional summit of Lingmell, a great viewpoint over Great Gable and the Wasdale Valley.
From Lingmell Col we will climb the short path onto the summit of Scafell Pike.
The route then takes us north along the summit ridge, past Broad Crag and Ill Crag where again we have the option of taking in the summit of Great End, the fifth highest mountain in England.
We now descend over Esk Hause with views over the Langdale Pikes and Windermere before turning again to the north and descending alongside Grains Gill back to Seathwaite.
Each participant will be required to bring suitable equipment for their chosen event, please see Kit List tab above.

2 amazing days walking with the lake district walker Review by Lydia Mullen
Overall Experience Just spent 2 amazing days walking with the lake district walker. With the help of the fantastic guide, Neil, I completed 2 spectacular walks, the Fairfield Horseshoe and Scafell Pike from Seathwaite. Neil was extremely skilled, knowledgeable and friendly which made the walks even more interesting, fun and safe. I would highly recommend walking with the lake district walker and I will definitely be booking on again soon!! (Posted on 09/02/2020)

Today's Scafell trip Review by Terence
Overall Experience Can I just say today’s trip to Scafell was great. Neil was an excellent guide. His knowledge of the Lakes was really helpful. The guy literally knows it like the back of his hand. This was a great way for a novice to get up Scafell in tricky weather and learn a lot more about the lakes. (Posted on 20/08/2024)

A fantastic day out climbing Scafell Pike Review by Louise Eldridge
Overall Experience We had a fantastic day out climbing Scafell Pike. Our guide Adam was great. He made us feel welcome from the start and was very aware of our needs as a group. The views throughout the day were absolutely stunning and there were plenty of opportunities to take it all in. For anyone wondering whether to go with the Lake District Walker or go it alone, I would recommend the company. Our guide was extremely informative, answering our questions about the geology of the area and pointing out places of interest from the viewpoints. Also, he was able to offer us an alternative route down the peak which was an added bonus. We got so much more from our day than we would have if it had just been us. Thanks for a great day. A huge thank you to our amazing guide Henry who superbly managed our mixed ability group. His knowledge and passion for climbing added so much to the day.

Scafell Pike 5/8/19 Review by PAUL
Overall Experience Scafell Pike is an immense challenge - and yes, I found it extremely tough, despite a reasonable fitness. Starting from near Seathwaite, the views were awesome along the way and the terrain challenging with plenty of rocks and boulders in places.
The guide (young) Henry was amazing, his knowledge and the support he gave me and the others was remarkable.
There is a strong sense of achievement from navigating England's highest peak. (Posted on 07/08/2024) -

A big thank you Review by Matt Smith
Overall Experience A big thank you to Jess for leading our walk to Scafell Pike from Seathwaite.
Had a great mixed group. She showed interest in all of us and we all had a great chat with a walk thrown in.
Made sure we all kept together and all got to the top even though mixed abilities. Everyone was as happy for others to get there as they were for themselves as got us to bond together.
Extremely hot day and not sure we would have got up or down without her as couple of dodgy sections, especially on the corridor where she made sure we all got down safely.
Special thanks for bringing jelly babies (Posted on 04/07/2024) -
Great day on the mountain Review by Jo
Overall Experience Thoroughly enjoyed the Scafell Pike from Seathwaite walk on 10th November. The group and the guide, Tom, were lovely. The walk was varied and challenging in places but I loved it. Even the awful wet weather on the way down couldn't spoil the day. I would highly recommend this walk and the company. I will definitely be booking another guided walk in the future. Scafell Pike on Saturday 27/10 Review by Catherine Penn/David Penn

Scafell Pike from Seathwaite Review by Aidan
Overall Experience Did Scafell Pike on Sat 13th Oct just as Storm Callum hit. Guide was Paul who was fantastic. Despite the treacherous conditions he took care to make sure we were safe in what was a testing hike in the rain and wind. I suffered leg cramp on final leg to summit and then on way back down (possibly due to dehydration) but Paul was very patient and understanding. Great feeling to reach the summit. Thank you so much Paul. Very highly recommended!!
All the best

Scafell Pike Review by Karen
Overall Experience Just to say I had a lovely day yesterday on Scafell Pike. Lovely walk with excellent views. Hannah who took us most of the way was very supportive always watching over her shoulder. It was good having two leaders so the group could split in two depending on their pace. The walk was challenging but really enjoyable day. (Posted on 30/08/2018)

Overall Experience Did Scafell Pike from Seathwaite on Saturday (30th June). What a great day Review by Suzanne Howell
Overall Experience What a great day, great walk and great guide. Alex was our leader full of great knowledge and advice on what started as a tricky walk in the rain and mist. He kept us all going and laughing all the way and even managed to book the sun for us when we hit the summit. The walk down with the views was spectacular something I will always remember and treasure. Long but excellent day hike Review by Julian
Overall Experience Date of hike (11/11/2017)
After an aborted attempt to do this route in 2016 with another firm, due to horrendous weather conditions, which resulted in some unfortunate consequences for some of the group, I had another opportunity to join another group hike along this route. Our guide was John who met us at Seathwaite and outlined the route for the day. The group comprised various abilities, though noone was rushed along the route. I had only recently returned from the Andes so was still acclimatized to a considerable altitude, and as such found the going very easy and often had to wait for extended periods for the rest of the group to catch up. This gave me more opportunities to take in the views. The ascent went by the corridor route and returned via Ill and Broad Crag, which made for an interesting and varied route throughout the day. All in all, it was a great day hike and we were fortune to have such good weather even in November. John was a great guide, particularly over the trickier parts such as the Bad Step and over the boulder fields on the descent. It is a long day but more than achievable for those with a good level of fitness and determination, and doesnt involve any technical skills, beyond paying close attention on a couple of parts which John was more than capable of helping everyone through. AMAZING climb up Scafell Pike Review by Angie Anderson
Overall Experience AMAZING climb up Scafell Pike on a glorious day (23/5/18) which gave me the best views possible. Tom was our guide. There was only 3 of us but he made sure that we all stuck together with our range of ability. It's an arduous climb after Styhead tarn and relentless. But the sensation of accomplishment and the views are just spectacular. This is the first time doing an LDW guided walk and I will definitely be booking to do another when I am in the Lakes. Another Wainwright achieved! (Posted on 29/05/2018)

Overall Experience I joined the hiking group to Scafell Pike on 7 Apr and Rachel was our mountain leader. Rachel is very friendly and patience with the entire group members, and made sure everyone remains in her radar. A grand day out Review by J-P
Overall Experience Challenging walk up Scafell Pike in snowy conditions, with a mixed ability group
Great to have such a knowledgable and considered guide - I would have turned back if on my own. Guided walking is a different experience - spending less time fiddling with maps/compass/Wainwrights and much less pressure worrying about all the others in the party got me up Scafell Pike in conditions I wouldn't have seen otherwise. 5 Stars! Review by Rebecca & Michael
Overall Experience We climbed Scafell on a wet and windy October day. It was a lot harder than we imagined but so worth it! It's not for the faint hearted and it's essential to be prepared with all the kit listed. The mountain is magnificent and we will definitely climb again.
Our guide Alex was a fantastic, it was a challenging climb, especially with the weather and Alex kept everyone engaged and happy. He is incredibly knowledgeable, very funny and a very good guide. It's clear he loves what he does and his zest for life was infectious! He is a credit to you, we will definitely be booking with you again.

Breathtaking Review by Emma
Overall Experience As an anniversary present to ourselves, my husband and I decided that we would tackle Scafell Pike! Despite a couple of heavy showers at the beginning, the weather was great and as a result we had the most awesome views once we reached the top. I am so chuffed that I managed this as I am not the fittest person and tend to avoid tricky walks. A big thanks goes to Alex our guide who certainly helped motivate me to keep going. He was very professional and knowledgeable and made the whole experience fun! Would definitely book with you again (Posted on 03/10/2017)

Stunning day on Scafell Pike Review by Carol
Overall Experience My friend and I joined Alex our guide and seven others on the walk up Scafell Pike on Saturday 30th September from Seathwaite.
We had an amazing day, Alex was absolutely brilliant; knowledgeable, confident, supportive, motivational, great fun to be with and gave us lots of tips along the way. I really appreciated his support and encouragement throughout what was quite a tough day for me but I always felt that I would be able to complete it. We had a lovely group who helped and supported each other through the tricky bits. We were incredibly lucky with the weather and enjoyed the most fabulous views all the way up, on the summit and all the way down! A brilliant day, my third trip out with Lake District Walker and I can honestly say that every time the guides have been fantastic. I would not hesitate to use you again and recommend to friends and colleagues. A wonderful experience I will never forget. Thanks for a great day. (Posted on 02/10/2017) -
Brilliant an experience! Review by Kate
Overall Experience Had the most amazing day climbing Scafell Pike! Our guide Ollie was friendly, knowledgeable and we felt completely at ease and safe under his instruction of which paths were best to take and how to climb or descend difficult areas of the route. It was an experience I will never forget and would not of been able to tackle this climb without the assistance of Ollie and booking on to one of the groups from the Lake District walker.
I would recommend booking on to a group to other friends and family just to have a better all round experience and to feel that bit safer than taking on this challenge alone or just with another person.
Thanks for a wonderful day and great memories! ☺️ (Posted on 25/09/2017) -

Amazing hike. LDW is the way to go! Review by Helen
Overall Experience Scafell Pike is a tough hike - scree fields, steep, tiny paths in places, many routes. Going with guide John took out all the route-finding stress and allowed us to focus on the views and the walking. This is a tough 7 hour hike. We are fit and had hiked all week but were glad to have proper boots and gear. Don't attempt this in gym shoes. John was amazing -and managed the group with great care, going up and down the line as needed to keep everyone helped and happy. Next time we hike the lakes we will book LDW again and this will allow us to hike the hardest peaks and ridges with total peace of mind. Thanks John!! (Posted on 18/09/2017)

Had to come down. Review by Des
Overall Experience Booking and the information given were excellent. We met at Seathwaite and our guide Neil explained what the day would consist of. Storm Aileen had hit the country the evening before so the weather was not ideal. The day started clear but windy. As we climbed all the rivers were higher and the tracks had become rivers. This slowed us down and one of our party was struggling a bit. As we climbed we encountered rain and hail. As we reached just above 500 metres the cloud had come onto the summit and as one of our party was not doing so well Neil decided it would be best to go down for the safety of all of us. We were behind on time and from where we were the terrain was going to be harder. Although disappointing this was the right decision. The scenery is stunning so it is worth the effort. As I was doing this as a Charity Challenge I will go back again and will be re-booking this week. (Posted on 18/09/2017)

Fantastic day Review by Meyrick
Overall Experience We did scafell pike on 30th august. We are fairly new to fell walking, only been doing it about 3 months. Our guide was Neil, couldn't have asked for a nicer guide, he was very knowledgable, easy to chat to and looked out for everyone in our group. Our 15 year old son was with us and Neil spoke with him about mountain biking routes too, which my son also enjoys. We were lucky to get with a great group of people doing the walk too. The walk was difficult but so worth it, we were lucky enough to have a lovely sunny clear day and the views were out of this world. We will definitely use district walker again, even when we come back to do scafell pike again, it is worth every penny for the knowledge and safety aspect you receive. Thank you so much. Best wishes Meyrick, Dawn and Cooper Barham (Posted on 31/08/2017)

Fantastic Day Review by LOUISE
Overall Experience We would definately recommend The Lake District Walker. Stuart our guide was brilliant - we were part of a group of 10 and he looked after us all - you didnt feel pressured to rush, he was really patient and knew so much about the history about the mountains and the history of our route. He also lent us some spare waterproofs he had in the car as we had forgot ours. It was a great day and I would definately use this company again. One of the reasons I like it so much was you didnt have the stress of trying to follow the map and try to find the way yourself.
I also had to change my walk a few days beforehand. when I rang, the operater was so helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Will definately be booking more walks with you Thank you for a great day. Louise & Dave Hall (Posted on 16/08/2017) -
Fantastic day out....despite the weather! Review by Gill
Overall Experience Hi John. Could I thank you, on behalf of my group of friends, for a most enjoyable walk on Saturday. The weather in the morning was awful but Stuart our guide kept us safe and cheerful. Miraculously the rain stopped and cloud lifted as we neared the summit of Scafell affording fabulous views. Our walk down was very pretty as well. I think The Lake District Walker offers a great way for the occasional mountain walkers to be able to venture onto the fells safely and all 4 walks I have now done with you have been fantastic days out...so thank you so much. Overall Experience Our guide John safely guided us up and down Scafell Pike. During our journey John pointed out the names of the mountains and the valleys that surrounded us, as well as points of interest. Johns intention was for us to enjoy our day and stay safe. Scafell Pike (31/05/2017) Review by Claire
Overall Experience I had a lovely walk up to the highest point in England with Ross and a great group of walkers.
The weather was unbeliveably kind (one day of glorious sunshine admist a week of grey/rain).
Ross is an incredibly interesting young man and full of facts and information that he imparted along the way - a great tour guide!

Fantastic - highly recommended Review by Loops
Overall Experience I decided to challenge myself with a walk up Scarfell Pike, but didn't want to navigate myself, so I booked on the guided walk. I have visited the Lakes several times over the years and found the guided walk a fantastic experience. Rachel, our guide, was lovely and made the day an enjoyable one. The weather was very kind to us (apart from the wind), but I couldn't fault the day! I would recommend this type of walk to anyone visiting the Lakes who isn't familiar with the area or doesn't have the confidence (or doesn't want the hassle) of navigating themselves! I will definitely use them again on my future trips to the Lakes! (Posted on 06/05/2017)

Scafell Pike with Ross Review by Steve Rhodes
Overall Experience We walked up Scafell Pike with Ross (don't recall his surnme - tall lad originally from Essex) - we were a group of 3 adults and 3 kids (aged 13 to 11) and he did a great job of taking us up the mountain safely, answering our (probably) silly & naive questions and humoured the kids well. It was a great day and I always felt safe with Ross which for a novice is important when you have kids in tow. He told us stories, pointed out things (like Sellafield way in the distance) and allowed us to do what we wanted to do. I would happily have Ross guide me again and I am so glad I paid for a guide as it made the day. (Posted on 30/10/2016)

On the day of the walk the two guides were very informative and great guys who were happy to take in additional peaks on the way to Scafell, would highly recommend using them! :) (Posted on 19/09/2016)

Scarfel Pike in the sun Review by Richard D
Overall Experience Really good day out - the weather was a bonus , hot and sunny all day - the views all the way were terrific and from the top crystal clear. The group was good company - about 20 of us but we had 2 guides to help. We managed to accent the adjacent hill for views down the other valley and beyond. A long way back but again the valley scenery was worth it. (Posted on 19/09/2016)

Fantastic walk with a Fantastic guide! Review by April
Overall Experience Thankyou so much to our guide Arnold for taking my mum Elizabeth, sister Amber and I up Scafell Pike on Saturday 13th August 2016.
The weather was testing, with high winds, rainfall and low visibility - Arnold took us the safest way to the top whilst providing insightful information about the surrounding mountains and plants which can be seen throughout the duration of the walk!
We definitely could not have done the walk with out Arnold and I cant recommend having a guide enough!
We thoroughly enjoyed the day out and will definitely be signing up for more!

Scafell pike England's highest mountain ! Review by Caroline J
Overall Experience Today we climbed the highest mountain in England with our very knowledgable guide Arnold. My children, 18 & 16, myself and my two year old hip did something I never thought was possible. Arnold arrived in plenty of time, we met our fellow climbers for the day and began our accent. The scenery was second to none, along with Arnold's knowledge of the area and the whole route. After a short stop for lunch and to add a layer we managed to clamber to the summit. By the time we had climbed to the very highest point in England the rain and clouds and decided to join us too! We descended over the top of the mountain, via a boulder field, in which Arnold was again extreamely good at knowing the best way to cross. Due to me being exhausted and the slowest at walking on the decent we took 8 1/2 hours to complete the walk. Arnold was not at all worried about this and at no point did he or the other walkers make me feel under pressure. This is the most amazing place on earth to walk and see and with Arnold at our side (all three of us) and The Lake District Walker made it possible for us to see this challenge through to a brilliant end. Many thanks (Posted on 11/08/2016)

Scafell Pike from Seathwaite Review by Dave (and Pete)
Overall Experience We did Scafell Pike from Seathwaite with Nev a couple of weeks ago. As a mixed group with differing needs, Nev did a fantastic job of catering for all and we had a fantastic walk and time with him.
Great guy, very considerate, knowledgable and clearly excellent guide.
Thanks again Nev, we had a great time. (Posted on 05/08/2016) -
Scafell pike from Seathwaite on Wednesday 03 August Review by Karen and Jane
Overall Experience Thanks to our guide Armold for his patience and cheerfulness despite the torrential rain and 50mph winds and for getting us to the top and back safely. Arnold was unperturbed by the weather but made appropriate changes to the walk to keep us safe. We had a great day out - thanks! (Posted on 05/08/2016)

Thank you from Heather and Paul Review by Heather and Paul
Overall Experience Hi,
I would be very grateful if you could please pass on our heartfelt thanks to your excellent guide Neville. He very expertly and kindly helped us to manage the walk up to Scafell Pike yesterday, encouraging and guiding us when necessary. In particular we would like to thank him for the enormous amount of help that he gave to Paul who found that his legs would no longer carry him on the way down. So please pass on a big thank you from us.
Apart from Paul's problems on the way down it was a very enjoyable day with a very friendly and helpful group of people and it enabled us to achieve our ambition of climbing Scafell Pike safely.
Many thanks,
Heather and Paul (Posted on 18/07/2016) -

Exhausting but extremely satisfying Review by Emma
Overall Experience It was day two of our weekend in Keswick and this was the big one! Forecast was dreadful but as it turned out was dry for the first big part of our walk. Scenery was absolutely stunning and I couldn't believe it when John (our guide) said we'd reached the 500 metre point. Got rather tougher from there but our group was hugely motivating and we were chatting all the way up to the top. Was a shame the weather had closed in by then and we didn't get the view but I can now say I've climbed England's tallest mountain! You can push yourself further that you think. Really great experience! Review by Jamie
Overall Experience A big thank you to Rick for a fantastic day out in spite of the awful weather the further we climbed! We didn't make Scafell Pike due to an electrical storm but made Great End instead. Rick was extremely experienced and knowledgeable and we were really pleased with our decision to choose a guide after a thick blanket of fog would have otherwise left us utterly lost in heavy rain. We will definitely be returning to attempt Scafell again (hopefully with better weather) and look forward to coming back. (Posted on 11/06/2016)

Overall Experience Scafell Pike from Seathwaite
Dates: 23 Apr 2016.
Just reach the top of Scafell pike it was a great day a bit windy, but warn and when the sun comes through its gorgeous and views breathtaking. People always say you can go on your own, but I wanted to go with a guide and a group of people with similar interests. Our guide Neil was really good and knowledgeable and professional at all times, took time to know the group members. Really good group with the same abilities. What a great day, worth the pain sweating and sore feet. Thanks ladies and gents for your company. Looking forward to booking the next trip!
This was a awesome experience, could not fault anything, just be prepared it is a long walk over very rough rocky ground.

Scafell Pike Review by Rachel
Overall Experience Booked a last minute guided walk up Scafell Pike with John for this past weekend and it was a great experience. We experienced all forms of percipitation and all seasons during the climb. John was a great guide and made the walk fun regardless of the weather. I didn't have a car while I was there and he even picked me up from the Keswick bus stop and drove me to the starting point. Thanks for going above and beyond John! (Posted on 16/11/2015)

Scafell Pike Review by Holly
Overall Experience I just want to say a massive thank you to Ross for yesterday, he knew how important it was to me to get to the top and he made sure we did it. He made us all feel completely safe and we had 100% faith in him that if anything was to go wrong he would be able to deal with it. He is a credit to your company. He kept spirits up when we had all seriously had enough and we can't thank him enough. (Posted on 05/11/2015)

Overall Experience Hi just wanted to thank Ross for guiding us up Scafell Pike on 30th Sept. In particular he dealt expertly , calmnly and with reassurance when I tripped close to summit . He expertly did some first aid and enabled me to continue to the summit. His knowledge of the area was also much appreciated . Will recommend you to others .

Overall Experience A big thank you to James for guiding us up to the summit of Scafell Pike. He was very tolerant of my slow progress and made the walk interesting for my 9 year old son by adding in some extra scrambly bits for him. (Posted on 25/09/2015)

Highly recommended! Review by Anzela
Overall Experience Due to drive up to the Lakes on Thursday evening, I made a decision on Thursday morning to climb Scafell Pike on Saturday! I came across The Lake District Walker in a Google search and just went for it.
I've never climbed a mountain before, and am reasonably fit, but was slightly nervous, naturally. I was greeted warmly by our guides, Alec and Claire, and the rest of our group as we set off.
To cut 9 long hours short - it was only due to the friendly and supportive nature of the group, and our guides in particular, did I make it up and down Scafell Pike that day. At times, I cried out of pain and mental tiredness - but each time, Alec and Claire supported me and talked me through it. And they were very candid about what to expect, which is what I needed - the worse thing a climber needs is to be told they'll see the peak around the next corner and then not see it! They are both thoroughly knowledgeable about not only the routes but also on how a novice should approach the climb, so you feel safe. (Posted on 30/08/2015) -
Scafell Pike Review by David
Overall Experience First time up Scafell Pike as a family of 4 (two adults and two boys aged 10 and 7). Was a little apprehensive about taking them up the highest peak in England so I decided to book a guide from The Lake District Walker company. Every single part of the experience was exceptional. We had lots of rests on the way up and our guide took the time to explain points of interest, certain rock types, fell history etc. It was way above and beyond the call of duty. He was unobtrusive but always on hand to answer questions posed by ourselves and the kids. Well worth every penny for safety alone. Thanks very much. We won't forget the experience!! Scafell Pike Review by Holly
Overall Experience After promising myself for goodness knows how long that I'd climb Scafell Pike and finding myself with something of a free weekend I decided I would get on with it. I thought about heading up there solo, I had tackled other fells that way; but this wasn't somewhere I particularly wanted to be on my own with the possibility of the weather turning nasty.
A google search brought up 'The Lake District Walker' and a simple to follow on-line booking system and paypal payment had me signed up, within minutes. I thought the cost of joining the walk was reasonable and helpful kit, lists, joining instructions and route information provided electronically.
I arrived at the meeting point. Found a couple of other walkers and Bryan, who was leading the walk was on time and gave everyone a warm welcome. The group was made up of 7 ladies of various ages and abilities plus Charlie the dog. Bryan was incredibly patient and knowledgeable about the mountain and the area. He made a point of chatting to everyone and was always willing to assist if one of us was finding a section tricky.
It's fair to say that we weren't the speediest group on the mountain that day, however there was never any frustration from Bryan or pressure to speed up. We had the added bonus that the cloud that had been covering the summit all day lifted when we arrived on the top.
Really enjoyed the whole experience and will definitely book again. (Posted on 30/07/2015) -

Always fantastic guides Review by Kay
Overall Experience I've been on three walks with The Lake District Walker this year. I'm not an experienced walker so started with a lower fell walk in the spring (Steel Fell and Helm Crag), did Helvellyn and Striding Edge in the summer, and Scafell Pike this weekend in the rain and cold! So I've done some more challenging walks and been out in good weather and bad. Geoff and the other guides I've had are all excellent. They are friendly, knowledgeable, always keeping the group motivated and taking care of us all (and, in the case of Scafell in bad weather - getting us all off the mountain in one piece!). There are so many walks to choose from, so you can start with an easier walk and build up to something really challenging. The guides are fantastic for both types of walk. And I can't believe how low the prices are, it's more than worth it. Highly recommend. (Posted on 23/06/2015)

Scafell Pike Review by Peter
Overall Experience We went on a guided walk up Scafell Pike. We had a really great day, the guide was friendly and knowledgeable and allowed the group to go at the pace best for us. He also took people off to do little detours to bag other fells on the way. The walk was fantastic and the whole experience was something to remember. (Posted on 18/06/2015)

The only way to go..! Review by Mike
Overall Experience Early in the year I decided that Scafell Pike needed to be climbed and so booked with Lake District Walker thinking that perhaps a guided climb would be the sensible way to go. Arrived at the meeting point with my son and daughter on what was a truly wet and miserable Saturday morning. Because of the terrible weather other groups were calling off but our guide Geoff and the others in our group were up for it. The weather was so lousy and visibility so poor at times that, had we not had a guide, I think I'd still be on that mountain. Being part of a mixed group was great, making for a memorable shared experience. The climb itself was not at all easy and I was glad that we'd put some training in before hand, although Scafell's rather martian terrain and the weather on the day, we just could not have prepared for. All in all very challenging but equally very rewarding. Highly recommend using The Lake District Walker as I would not have wanted to do this, particularly with conditions as they were, alone. Highly recommended. (Posted on 08/05/2015)

Scafell Pike Saturday 19th April Review by Frankie
Overall Experience Hi there, Just wanted to say thank you to Fay for a great day out on a very busy Scafell on Saturday. We had a really good day and thought Fay was very professional and pleasant; she also coped really well with our very mixed ability group and kept everyone safe and happy. (Posted on 20/04/2015)

Scafell Pike Review by Mary
Overall Experience We joined a group walking up Scafell Pike on Saturday 11th August and loved it!
Scafell is not easy at all, quite strenuous for a large part and some of the terrain is very difficult, but it's worth it! The view from the top is amazing if you're lucky enough to get a clear day.
This trip was easy to book, and the information given was clear. We were provided details of the meet point as well as directions and a list of equipment we needed.
Our guide, Hugh, was extremely friendly, professional and knowledgeable and put us at our ease. I felt a little intimidated at first as some of our group were clearly experienced walkers and my husband and I were not nearly as fit as they were, but Hugh (and everybody in the group) were encouraging and friendly and made the day a great success. Thanks Hugh.
Just do it, book a tour and go climb Scafell. It's worth the effort! (Posted on 23/01/2015)

Question:
What is the minimum age for children on this event?
Answers:
-
Posted by John Scadding on Thursday, 12 October 2017
We do not have a set minimum age for this event, however, you know your child best, therefore please bear in mind this is an open event of varying ages, if you are not confident your child can complete this event then hiring a private guide could be a more suitable option.
As this is an open event all under 18's must be accompanied by an adult.
Question:
Are dogs allowed on this walk?
Answers:
-
Posted by John Scadding on Tuesday, 12 September 2017
Yes, dogs are allowed on all our walks.
However we do cross farmland and common land where animals will be grazing, there will be large sections of the walk, if not all, where dogs will be required to be on a lead.
There are sections of this walk across rough ground and boulders and as such this walk may not be suitable for all dogs.
Question:
What happens if the weather is bad?
Answers:
-
Posted by John Scadding on Tuesday, 12 September 2017
We plan to walk whatever the weather, unless it is dangerous to do so.
Mountain weather can be a little unpredictable, but we do keep an eye on the forecasts leading up to walks, should the forecast mean that the walk is not possible then we will contact you as soon as we have the forecast and offer you the following options:
- A more suitable walk on the same date taking into consideration the weather conditions
- A transfer to the same walk on another date
- A full refund
