Binsey makes a great shorter walk with wonderful views north over the Solway Coast towards Scotland and some of the best views south over Skiddaw and Bassenthwaite Lake.
Grassy slopes and great views make this a stunning short walk suitable for all.
Summits included on this route:
                          Binsey447 metres/1467 feet
From the roadside near Binsey Lodge we climb the grassy slope through bracken clad fellside towards the summit of Binsey, as we climb the views back towards the Skiddaw Massif are wonderful, picking out the fine ridge of Ullock Pike and Long Side encircling the valley of Southernerdale.
From the summit of Binsey the views to the north open up with a glorious panorama over the Solway Firth to Scotland.
The summit of Binsey is also worthy of exploration, and ancient tumulus marks the summit of the fell but the lower cairn to the north west of the summit gives an even better viewpoint over the lower ground towards the Solway coast.
